number of disclosure points, steeper penalties for noncompliance and breach, and the rise of patient-generated health data
(PGHD) and telemedicine.

These high-risk factors impact PHI disclosure management and present challenges for health information management (HIM) professionals as they assume leadership roles in enterprise-wide initiatives. Information governance (IG) matters more than ever as an integral part of enterprise-wide PHI disclosure management.

In the following virtual roundtable, three HIM experts offer valuable insights gained from their experiences along the

Bowen is an established author and speaker on healthcare privacy and security. She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), having served as its President and Board Chair, as a member of the Board of Directors and of the Council on Certification, and currently sits on the AHIMA Foundation Board of Directors.
