KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. – May 1, 2004 – Medical Records Online (MRO) today announced an agreement to provide release-of-information (ROI) processing services to Atlantic City Medical Center (ACMC) in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Under this agreement, ACMC will implement ROI Online™, MRO’s state-of-the-art release-of-information processing service.

With ROI Online, ACMC is able to process ROI in-house with MRO providing fulfillment duties such as requestor communication, billing, collections, and record distribution. ACMC receives inbound requests, validates them, determines what to release and inputs the requested records into the online system. MRO is then responsible for processing the requests to completion.

“The MRO system has streamlined our ROI process”, stated Nancy Walborn, Director of Health Information Management at ACMC. “The volume of inbound requestor calls has dropped significantly since we started with MRO. Many of our requests can be fulfilled without scanning the paper chart because the MRO system can import electronic documents directly into the release workflow, such as previously scanned records or reports stored in our Clinical Information System. MRO has also been able to provide customized reporting and tracking features for our department”.

“ROI Online is designed to simplify the ROI process for medical facilities”, stated Stephen Hynes, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for MRO. “The system enables the facility to easily handle tasks considered core-functions of medical records – validating requests and determining what to release. Functions such as requestor communications, billing, collections, and the distribution of records, are outsourced to MRO”.

“From a Business Office perspective, MRO has helped streamlined our processes as well”, added Kathleen Goodwin, Director of Patient Accounts for ACMC. “My staff receives notification that a requested record is available online as soon as the medical records department processes our request. The Patient Accounts staff then log onto the system and access the requested records. We then have permanent online access to that requested record set, eliminating the need to send a second request to medical records for denials, appeals, secondary insurance, etc.”

Hospitals or outpatient facilities of any size can benefit from this program”, stated John Walton, Director of Sales for MRO. “In addition to gaining control of the ROI process, the facility can generate a profitable revenue stream since MRO and the facility share the collected revenue on a monthly basis. We can also customize the workflow to meet the requirements of individual facilities”.
