Clinical trials depend on clinical research coordinators to identify eligible patients and manage study protocols, yet 61% of clinical research staff report burnout, and over half of sites report rising turnover since 2020. Patient eligibility screening is still largely manual, creating a major bottleneck, and while software can narrow candidate lists, human interaction remains essential to enrollment. The fix isn’t simply more automation—it’s a “collaborative intelligence” model that pairs technology with investment in the workforce itself.
