NORRISTOWN, Pa. – June 30, 2016 MRO, a leader in the secure, compliant and efficient exchange of Protected Health Information (PHI), announced today the election of MRO’s chief technology officer, David Borden, to The Sequoia Project’s board of directors. Borden will participate in strategic planning and governance for the only mission-driven, 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated solely to the nationwide implementation of real-world interoperability solutions to improve patient experience and health outcomes.

“As a member of the board, I will be in a position to give MRO and our clients a voice among the major players in our industry,” said Borden. “Being a part of The Sequoia Project will enable MRO to continue to participate as an industry leader and support our clients as they move along their individual paths in connecting with HIE on a national level.”

The Sequoia Project supports multiple, independently managed health information technology interoperability initiatives, most notably the eHealth Exchange, the largest health data sharing network of its kind in the United States. This rapidly growing community of exchange partners shares information under a common trust framework and a common set of rules across all 50 states, including nearly half of all U.S. hospitals.

The Sequoia Project also supports Carequality, a public-private collaboration to build consensus among existing data sharing networks regarding policy, technical specifications and best practices, much like the telecommunications industry did for linking cell phone networks. MRO is a founding member of Carequality.
