MRO Selected by Kindred Healthcare for PHI Disclosure Management
Kindred implements enterprise-wide system across 110 locations, centralizing and streamlining release of information policies and procedures
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. – June 5, 2014 – MRO Corp., a leader in protected health information (PHI) disclosure management and health information exchange, announced today that Kindred Healthcare, based in Louisville, Ky., has signed an agreement for release-of-information (ROI) services.
Under this new contract, Kindred is utilizing ROI Online®, MRO’s KLAS-rated, web-based ROI solution, across 110 long-term acute care hospitals located across the U.S. With the system-wide implementation of MRO’s solution, Kindred benefits from standardized PHI disclosure management processes, improved compliance, enhanced customer service, increased policy enforcement and decreased turnaround times.
“As a large organization with many locations, we recognized the need to drive a corporate compliance initiative and develop consistent ROI processes,” said Kyle Phillips, HIM director of Kindred Healthcare. “We partnered with MRO for reasons including their ability to streamline and standardize our ROI policies and procedures, eliminate paper-based processes, and integrate with our proprietary EMR system. Through our partnership, we have realized improvements in efficiency and the internal performance of our compliance oversight.”
“MRO’s ability to customize our disclosure management services, coupled with our technology know-how, allows us to work closely with our customers to ensure we meet their individual needs,” said Steve Hynes, president of MRO. “We are very excited to partner with such an impressive health system to streamline PHI disclosure management across their healthcare enterprise.”
Most Kindred locations are using MRO’s shared delivery model in which the facility staff manage “front-end” ROI processes while outsourcing the remainder to MRO. In this model, MRO handles “back-end” responsibilities such as billing, collections, record distribution, quality assurance and requester services. The remaining 26 Kindred facilities are set up with a staffed delivery model, with MRO delivering traditional on-site staffed ROI services.
MRO, a leader in disclosure management and health information exchange, provides technology-driven solutions that ensure the secure, compliant and efficient exchange of protected health information (PHI). The company’s solutions include release of information (ROI), payer audit compliance and tracking, and accounting of disclosures. MRO additionally offers services and applications that support meaningful use attestation and health information exchange. MRO’s solutions can be used as a common platform across a healthcare enterprise to standardize disclosure policies and drive system-wide security and compliance. To learn more, visit www.mrocorp.com.
